While the day itself felt calm and unhurried, the love between Melissa and Ryan was unmistakable. Melissa and Ryan met on Hinge, with Mel making the first move. After some witty back-and-forth, Ryan asked her out. Unfortunately, babysitting plans delayed their first date by a night. Now, weekends often mean cooking together, playing board games, or enjoying lake days in Orono—Ryan fishing while Mel paddles nearby and soaks in the views.

Later, Ryan proposed in a way that felt perfectly true to them. Months after a spontaneous stop at a jewelry store during a house-project day, he popped the question while hiking to Caribou Lake on the North Shore. Because of that love for nature and meaningful time together, Duluth felt like the right place to get married. They chose The Garden for its warmth, its proximity to the lake, and the ability to gather everyone in one space. Above all, they envisioned a day centered on time with loved ones.
