Eleazar + Kelly

Eleazar and Kelly married on a bright sunny June day in Duluth MN. This video documents the beauty, delight, emotion and joy through the events of the day. Kelly and Eleazar waited patiently to see each other for the first time in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Mass was full of the gospel and wonderful words of blessing. As the guests waited for them to arrive at Spirit Mountain for the reception, Eleazar and Kelly spent some time together by the lake shore. Just enough time to start taking in the fact that they were finally married. The night that followed was full of dancing, happy conversation, tons of photos and cake.

Meet The Couple

HOW DID YOU GUYS MEET?

We met in February 2020 at a Catholic Young Adults game night in Duluth, Minnesota. Kelly was in her fourth and final year of pharmacy school at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Eleazar was in his third year of being a computer science professor at the same university. They talked briefly across the living room at the game night. Kelly remembers Eleazar forgot his phone in his car, and she was impressed that he decided to leave it there. Eleazar remembers Kelly especially because she was in pharmacy school and both of Eleazar’s parents are pharmacists.

WHY DO YOU WANT US TO CAPTURE YOUR SPIRIT MOUNTAIN WEDDING DAY?

We want to capture the wedding day because we know that the day goes by very fast. We do not want to forget the most important day of our lives! The Nuptial Mass is one we plan to watch yearly, on our anniversary. The first few times we watch our videos we imagine we will feel self-conscious and awkward, thinking “do I really walk like that?” or “do I talk like that?” or “why was I doing that stupid thing?”. But in 25 years we imagine we will watch our videos and be proud of who we were and maybe a little bit jealous of our younger selves. We also want to share our videos with any future children we may be blessed with.

TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL (EVERY DETAIL)

Eleazar proposed to Kelly outside St. Mary Star of the Sea Church (the same one they are getting married at) on October 15, 2021. It was a Friday and they had just attended the noon Mass and stayed for a little while afterward to pray. Kelly had been hoping for a proposal for a long time and was praying about it during their time of prayer. As they walked down the steps outside the front of the church and along the sidewalk, Eleazar stopped Kelly, saying “I have one question for you.” “Yes?” “Will you marry me?” “Yes!”. We were both very happy. Eleazar had his tripod in his car, and we proceeded to take some photos right then and there!

WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN FULL WEDDING MODE, WHAT DO YOU DO?

Eleazar is a computer science professor at UMD. Kelly is a pharmacist at Walmart in Hibbing. We both like to go for walks/hikes, bike, read, and go to Mass. Eleazar is learning how to play the piano. Kelly enjoys running. Our ideal day would include going to morning Mass, going for a hike, eating at a restaurant, and sitting on Eleazar’s deck to watch the sunset.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SPIRIT MOUNTAIN AND ST. MARY’S FOR YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

We liked the views of the lake and the harbor from Spirit Mountain. The windows let in a lot of natural light. St. Mary Star of the Sea is a special church for us because Eleazar proposed there. Normally we attend the Cathedral, but St. Mary Star of the Sea is a sister parish to the Cathedral.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR VISION FOR YOUR SPIRIT MOUNTAIN WEDDING DAY ITSELF.

We imagine our wedding day to be an elegant, traditional, and classy occasion. Our color scheme is blue – mostly steel blue, but it includes navy blue and other variations.

IS THERE A HONEYMOON PLANNED?

Our honeymoon is planned for the Sunday after we get married. We are going to Maui for a week!

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES IN 10 YEARS TIME?

In ten years, we would like to be living in a house in Duluth with 6 children, God willing! Eleazar would still be a computer science professor at UMD and Kelly will have relocated to the Walmart in Cloquet, Hermantown, or Superior. We expect our children will take up most of our time, but we also want to be a couple who goes on date nights and enjoys activities together. Hopefully by then we will have read a few books to each other!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR VIDEOS?

It wasn’t procrastination that led us to ask for your videography skills in the last week before our wedding; we had come to the conclusion to save money in this area. However, I don’t think Eleazar ever really gave up on the idea, and so, lo and behold, a week before our wedding, we decided to search for a videographer. Long story short, I am so happy we did. I have watched your videos over and over again. The highlight video is my favorite, and I watched it for inspiration every time I sat down to write thank you cards. Our families also have enjoyed watching your videos. By and far, hiring you as videographers was one of our best choices, and we are so, so happy we did. It is such a blessing to have so much on video and be able to watch the videos to remember the details of our wedding day. We will definitely be recommending Life with Vigor to our friends getting married.

Thank you for spending time making our videos. We have downloaded them successfully. We love the videos and the music you set to them. They really bring out the essence of our special day. We’d also like to thank you for your support and help on our wedding day. I distinctly remember that you offered to help with the boutonnieres, which our families did not know how to do. Eleazar remembers that you set up a last-minute livestream of our ceremony so his dad could have the opportunity to watch it. Your wedding expertise was evident. You were instrumental in making our wedding day memorable both through your positive presence there and the high-quality videos you created.
