Michelle and Casey’s wedding day was an intimate day like no other. The sky threatened to rain but never did. Lake Superior was calm despite the pending weather. The mosquitos stayed away even in the humidity. And the natural beauty of Big Bay, Madeline Island showed its full colors for the lovely couple.

Their wedding highlight film follows Michelle and Casey as they board a ferry to Madeline Island, solidify their commitment to each other, and enjoy the beauty of the island.

It was such a pleasure to spend that time with them capturing their love for each other framed in the beauty the day provided.

Meet The Couple

HOW DID YOU GUYS MEET?

We met through an online dating website, Match.com. He winked at me and after a few days, we had our first date on August 18, 2011.

WHY DO YOU WANT US TO CAPTURE YOUR WEDDING DAY?

We want to share the video with family members as they are across multiple states. Years from now when we watch the video, it will be a reminder of one of our happiest days together as a couple.

TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL (EVERY DETAIL)

He had been working outside in the yard and I was on my way to go pick up dinner. When I opened the car door, there was a bag and a note that said, Will you be with me for a lifetime and multiple choice boxes for Yes, No, and Maybe. (Throughout our relationship, we have written notes to each other)

Inside the bag was a box with a ring. (He and I have been through some awful relationships, so marriage was not something that was discussed.) I initially took the ring to be a symbol of our promise and commitment to each other. We both went into the house and I smiled and hugged him. Before I could say anything, he asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ It was then that I got choked up and the tears came. Naturally, I said yes.

WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN FULL WEDDING MODE, WHAT DO YOU DO?

I work at home for GE Healthcare as a service sales representative and he is co-owner and runs his parent’s excavating and trucking business. I am an online student studying to obtain my bachelor’s degree. He enjoys watching television, riding his motorcycle, and taking his Dodge Challenger out. As he is out with customers and driving for work, he enjoys peace, quiet, and solitude. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy reading. We like to go to movies and dinners together and enjoy each other’s company.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BIG BAY STATE PARK ON MADELINE ISLAND FOR YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

We chose Big Bay State Park for the beautiful scenery. We have only seen pictures but we knew immediately that this was the location we wanted.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY ITSELF.

As it is only the two of us, our vision for the day is to truly be present and take in all the moments with each other.

IS THERE A HONEYMOON PLANNED?

We will schedule a honeymoon for next year in the fall. We have decided we would like to rent a cabin in the mountains and take a week off work, but we have not decided where yet.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES IN 10 YEARS TIME?

And here I thought the 5-year future was hard to answer! In 10 years, we will be in our early 50s. We hope to be even happier and closer than we are today and maybe we will travel to Madeline Island to celebrate our 10-year anniversary where it all began!
