Meet The Couple

HOW DID YOU GUYS MEET?

We met in college. We both were on the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Gustavus Adolphus College. We started out as friends, but Tyler always had a crush on me. I unfortunately only saw him as good friend at the time. He was patient and always remained my friend throughout the years. I then realized it was him all along and the rest is history!

WHY DO YOU WANT US TO CAPTURE YOUR  WEDDING DAY?

I think video is a great way to create a memory of the day. I cry watching wedding videos all the time. I just think it is a beautify way to capture one of the most emotional and best days of your life. I think music, people’s emotions, and words really can capture a day. I look forward to watching the video back for the rest of our lives.

TELL US ABOUT THE PROPOSAL (EVERY DETAIL)

Tyler proposed on my family cabin’s dock on the lake. He lined the whole dock with rose pedals. My sister who is my MOH was visiting from Utah. I drove up to the cabin with my sister, her husband, and my brother. Tyler was supposed to join us the next day as one of his friends had box tickets to a Twin’s game. Turns out it was all a ploy to redirect me. When we got there my mom told me someone was waiting on the dock for me. I was in total shock! The ring Tyler was supposed to propose with was stuck on my mom’s right hand. It was my great grandmother’s ring and it turned out my mom couldn’t get it off her hand. She had been panicking all week trying to get it off. Tyler, being prepared, had a back up ring to sub in for the moment. My whole family was above looking on and captured some wonderful golden hour photos of the proposal.

WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN FULL WEDDING MODE, WHAT DO YOU DO?

Laurel is a real estate agent and Tyler works in fraud at US Bank. We love to spend weekends at the lake whenever we can in the summer. We play lots of tennis and pickleball together. We are both very close with our families and enjoy spending time with them whenever we can. We have a chocolate lab named Flint named after Gunflint Lake. We are obsessed with her! She loves swimming, going for long walks, and eating whatever she can pop in her mouth.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE LARSMONT COTTAGES FOR YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

We just really loved the quiet intimate setting. Put us by a lake or mountain and we are happy! We also liked that you could only have 50 people so it made the process of keeping the wedding small easier. We want everyone to just take that deep breath and relax for the weekend. You also can’t beat the North Shore in the summer!

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR VISION FOR YOUR  WEDDING DAY ITSELF.

The vision is just a stress free day with friends. I hope it feels relaxed and fingers crossed it’s a beautiful day. The hope is to be outside as much as possible. I just want the day to capture the intimate feeling of the day through speeches, hugs, special moments. My brother, Chase is going to be marrying us. My sister is my MOH and Tyler’s two brother’s are his best men. I’m a huge daddy’s girl, so I cry just thinking about a first look with my dad. I’m his last daughter to get married. Tyler’s grandma will be turning 91 the day of our wedding and the only grandparent left. Tyler has a close relationship with her. I just want to capture the love of close friends and family.

IS THERE A HONEYMOON PLANNED?

We are going to spend an extra two night on the North Shore and then hopefully go someplace warm in January or February.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES IN 10 YEARS TIME?

I hope we have some kids that have joined our little family. We are still happy in our careers and life. We bought a house 8 minutes from my parents to give them grandparents to grow up with since I never had that. As long as we have each other I know we will be good. Marrying your best friend makes life more fun!
