A Documentary of GNDH's Pilot Home

Evergreen

The main focus of the project with Green New Deal Housing was to document the building process of their Pilot home: Evergreen.  This was the first home they built following their mission: to develop equitable zero energy housing and a green collar workforce in the Arrowhead Region.

We spent two years filming on the job site, doing intereviews and editing with the end goal of making a documentary style video that told the story of Green New Deal Housing through the building of the Pilot Home: Evergreen.

The issues around access to housing, long-term stability of our built environment and all the compounding factors of climate change impact everyone in every community.

Client

Green New Deal Housing is a Duluth based non-profit. They bring an integrated approach to community development and workforce training, to lead the transition to zero-carbon buildings and reduce the persistent racial and economic disparities in our community. Green New Deal Homes are at the core of this approach.

At the time of this project, GNDH was preparing to build their first home.

Requirements

When we were first contacted by Green New Deal Housing, they were specifically interested in documenting the building process of their Pilot home: Evergreen.

Their main focus was to use this footage for fundraising and historical preservation.

Solution

Our recommendation to Green New Deal Housing was a 10-20 min video documenting the building process of Evergreen while telling the story of their organization.  This way they would have a very compelling feature to use for fundraising.

We included five interviews with various persons involved in the project, organization and/or vision for this type of building.

GNDH also opted for four Social Media shorts to promote the organization on their website and Facebook page.

15 min documentary

Their feature video was a 15 minute documentary of the building of Evergreen with interviews from various members of the organization and community.  This style of video is meant to draw the viewer into their story with compelling visuals and story.

audio/color

The filming was done in a way to give us full artist liberty over the audio and visuals.  The color and audio in the video are specifically done to draw in the viewer and hold them captive to the visuals.

Social Media Clips

Along with the documentary, we provided four clips for GNDH to use for the promotion of their organization and fundraising.

They were designed for Social Media and website use.
